Gimp

Last night I had to go out to the garage to get something, and since I wasn't wearing shoes, I ran out on my tiptoes to avoid getting my socks too dirty.  Well, wouldn't you know it, being the graceful woman I am, I tripped on one of the kids' rainboots and came down HARD on my foot.  After saying some choice words and sitting there on the concrete for a few minutes, I got up, got what I needed and went back in the house.  Limping around, I made dinner, bathed the kids, did a lesson and treasure hunt for Family Night, and finally got everyone to bed.  When I finally slowed down enough to notice how bad my foot hurt, I took a bunch of ibuprofen, put some ice on it, and laid down to elevate it, thinking it would feel better in the morning.

But, no.  I woke up this morning to find that my entire big toe and half of my foot was black and purple and swollen to about twice normal size.  I got into the doctor this morning and sure, enough, my big toe is broken.   Apparently there is not much you can do for a broken toe except not bend it and use some pain killers.  Oh, and the doctor said the most important thing I can do is to stay off of it for the first week or so.  Yeah, right!  I laughed when he said that.

So anyway, I am just really annoyed at myself for doing something so stupid.  I know I should be glad it wasn't worse, but it's just so darned INCONVENIENT!

I am so sorry to hear about your toe! I feel your pain. Doctors obviously don't understand what mothers need to do. Time for lots of Disney and Nick Jr. for the kids.

Erin, I'm so sorry! That stinks...I wish I could be there to help! If you want, you can ship the kids over here :). There's about 80 babysitters in prime condition.

Yikes! Broken toes are the worst. If you live near a health food store go get some comfrey root and make a big pot of tea and then soak your foot in it. It really helps. Drink a cup too, pre foot soak! :)

At least you got a laugh from the doctor visit!! I can only imagine the pain. You must have wicked awesome bruising though.

You must have a high threshold for pain! Just when you think you've got things under control something inconvenient happens:)

That is so awful! I hope your kids are good for you as you gimp along for a while. Best of luck!
