Pacific Science Center

Last Saturday, we packed up and headed down to Seattle to the Pacific Science Center.  What an awesome place!  I can't believe we've lived here over two years and hadn't been there yet.
The Seattle Center is such a fun place to be on a beautiful sunny day.
Huge water fountain = Ratchford kid heaven.  Too bad it was a little too chilly to run through.  (By parent standards, anyway!)

At the Journey to Mars exhibit.
Grace and Garreth got to see what it would feel like to walk on Mars.

In another building, we got to see a very cool live show about sound,
and see some dinosaurs.

The dinosaurs were moving and Grace and Liam barely dared turn their backs to this one for a picture!

Sam "Crab Whisperer" Ratchford at the touch pool.

My favorite part of the museum, the butterfly garden.  It was so beautiful.

Garreth and I were the only ones tall enough to ride the "High-ride Bike," which was pretty freaky because the bike wasn't connected to the rail, it just had a big pendulum thing balancing it.  (I'm sure there's a way better scientific explanation for how it worked!)  That's me in the picture above, and here's Garreth:

After an afternoon at the science center, we walked around the Seattle Center,
and got ice cream and a kebab.

It was a great day together.

And the fun didn't end there, for me at least.  We stopped by Ikea to pick up the components of my dream home library... pictures to follow soon!

We had annual passes last year. We loved it. The cool thing is that you can go to any science center with the passes and just about every city has one, so it's totally worth it. The butterfly house is my favourite part too!

I visited that same science center years and years ago. I remember it being really fun. Looks like it still is. That bike thing though, way to scary for me!

Looks like fun. Parker was looking at the pictures with me and he asked my who was on the bike. I told him Garreth and his reply was, "That is really dangerous. You should tell him not to do that." Dave and I secretly refer to Parker at our house as the little police officer!
