4th of July Weekend

We had a lot of work to get done over the long holiday weekend, but we wanted to have a little fun first, so we started the weekend off with an overnight camping trip along the Green River.

We made our own campsite out in the middle of nowhere and it was beautiful.
Serious campfire gazes.

Liam did not inherit his Papa's mad marshmallow-roasting skills. He lit about 5 on fire!

We got home around noon on Saturday, ready to get some serious checkmarks on our to-do list. We worked hard the rest of the weekend getting things done around the house, but we still had some time for some festive crafts:

On the evening of the fourth, we went to see "Cars 2" and had the whole theater to ourselves. Then we drove out to the fairgrounds to see the fireworks. Holy cow, was that an experience! We parked in the parking lot and just stood outside the van to watch all the other people in the lot light off their fireworks. And that show seriously rivaled the "official" show put on by the professionals! It was crazy. Crazy like, we jumped in the van a few times to avoid getting hit! Wyoming is very serious about pyrotechnics.

I embarrassed my family by insisting on turning the van radio to the station that was playing the fireworks soundtrack. Then Garreth and I both embarrassed the kids with our Neil Diamond "Coming to America" singalong. It was a fun night, and a very fun weekend.

Those marshmallows look huge! Love the one of Sam devouring his S'more. Looks like a very pretty place.
