With not much time left before moving out of the lower 48, we knew it would be tragic to live in Wyoming for two years without taking our kids to see Yellowstone National Park. So on Memorial Day weekend, we went! We met with my brother Bailey and his family, my parents, and my sister's three kids, who my parents were watching for the weekend. The weather was not ideal (snow!) but we had a really great time!
(Sorry, Mom, but traveling with a lot of boys creates funny moments like this)
Saturday night we went to Island Park and stayed in my sister-in-law Jamie's family cabin. My mom bought all the grandkids matching Yellowstone shirts and this was the best group shot we could manage!
We left Sunday morning and spent the night on our own in Jackson before heading home. Our hotel was across the parking lot from a movie theater and Garreth, Grace, Liam, and Declan couldn't resist another viewing of the Avengers.
Sam and I wandered the streets of Jackson instead. This is where I discovered Sam's secret passion for high-end Western art. We spent most of the time in art galleries looking at sculptures of elk and Native American art. He was very disappointed that I couldn't spring $2500 on an original photographic print of a buffalo for his room, but we bought the greeting card version to hang in his room instead and he tells me every day how much he loves it!
The next morning we took the whole family to our favorite spots.
We also took the kids to the Ripley's Believe or Not Museum, which was seriously awesome. We all loved it and would definitely recommend it to anyone with older kids going to Jackson.
Ice cream seemed like a perfect end to a great weekend.
