Finally - an Alaska post! Our very first Alaskan adventure was hiking at Kincaid Park, where we had our first, and definitely not last, moose encounter! We ran into a cow moose on the trail, then a few minutes later came across this big fella. It is hard to describe how amazing it was to come so close to something so big and beautiful. We were all a little nervous about the bear activity that is prevalent in this area, but we make so much noise when we hike, I don't think we had much to worry about!
We took the trail all the way down to the inlet, which is also gorgeous.
On the way back from our fun adventure, we ran into our big buddy again, only this time he was so close to the trail that we could have reached out and petted him. Very scary.
It didn't take us long to fall in love with Alaska summers. We came home and had a cookout that night - these pictures were taken at 10:00 at night. It's amazing the energy the long days give you!
Garreth the zipline master didn't waste any time turning our backyard into little boy heaven.
