Lynden Pioneer Museum

The kids and I spent our day out of school going to the Pioneer Museum in Lynden, which is about 15 minutes away.  It was an amazing place, and I really want to go back sometime without the kids so I can read more about the displays (and take Garreth, who sadly, had to work today!)  The kids loved it, too.

Sam and an outhouse.
Look at Liam's poses in each picture - what a little mini-Garreth!
A replica of Lynden's main street, my favorite part.  We had the whole place to ourselves!
Part of the "Strollers Throughout the Centuries" display.
Sam was, of course, drawn to anything having to do with horses.
A pioneer kitchen.  I have been reading the "Little House on the Prairie" books to Grace at bedtime, so it was really fun for the two of us to talk and compare what we saw.
A 1929 firetruck.
A local man donated this display to the museum.  It is a little miniature circus and carnival scene that he made and it is huge!  The kids could have stayed here for an hour.
The 1920's - era diner.
After a fun time at the museum, we headed down the road to the Lynden Chocolate Shoppe for ice cream cones.  It was a great afternoon with my little guys!

You still have that elementary school teacher thing going on. You're always providing educational opportunities for the kids, which is great! This museum looks like it would be right up my alley!
