Since being in Wyoming we are all slowly shriveling up. It turns out that living by the ocean and then moving to the desert makes your skin dry up, your lips crack, and your water-loving selves yearn for WATER! So last Saturday we drove a little south to Flaming Gorge Reservoir, or "The Gorge," as the locals call it. It's a huge reservoir, half in Wyoming and half in Utah, and we drove around the whole thing. It is really a spectacular place, one that we will be visiting a lot in the future to satisfy our aquatic needs!

Our first stop was just before the dam, where the reservoir again becomes the Green River. We parked and found a cool, steep trail down to the water.

What a beautiful place. I might just love rivers as much as I love the ocean. This is a launching spot for rafters, and we will definitely be returning for a float.

With more driving ahead of us and no change of clothes in the van, we tried to get the kids to just put their feet in. But as anyone who ever reads this blog knows, keeping the Ratchford kids out of any available body of water is impossible. So knickers it was.
One to add to my "Pictures that Sam will one day hate me for" file:

The Streak!
Next we stopped to check out the dam and the visitor's center.
The loop home took us through nearby Green River, where we found this cool little splash park near the river.

It was a really great day. It gave us hope and helped us to realize that there are cool places everywhere, sometimes you just have to look a little harder for them!

We love Flaming Gorge. You guys find fun wherever you go! Good job, wish I was so creative. BTW, heard you are watching The Bachelorette, me too, shhhh. Worst season yet, but I can't help watching. It's like a sickness.
