Willow Spring and Birthday Things

One night in Preston we drove up to Willow Flat to hike to the head of the spring. I've loved this hike since I was a little kid and it was fun to take my own kids there. We had forgotten about mosquitos and poor Sam left with many bites - apparently his blood is the sweetest in the family! Other than that, it was a beautiful evening!

The kids were amazed that the delicious cold water came "straight from the earth," and we drank until our bellies were "sloshy!"
Picture taken by Liam, just as I lost my balance and almost took Garreth down the waterfall with me!

When we got home, we had a wee birthday celebration for Liam with Papa and Nana. He opened some great presents from them and we had lovely birthday cheesecake from the Main Street Grill.

And what birthday celebration is complete without a fireworks show?
Thanks, Papa and Nana!

The movers got to Wyoming early the next morning and we decided that it would be easier with the kids out of the way, so Garreth headed over to meet them at the new house early the next morning. The kids and I spent another fun day in Preston, playing and 4-wheeling and having lunch with cousins at Pizza Villa, and then Papa drove us to Rock Springs in the afternoon, after everything was already in the house. If I have to move, this is the way to do it!

I felt like I didn't lift a finger... until I saw all the boxes for me to open and put away. That part has been tricky, since our basement is unfinished right now and we are moving to a smaller space than the old house until it's finished. We are still living in chaos, but I haven't stressed out about it yet. When we moved to Birch Bay in the summertime, I felt like I was consumed with getting things organized and painted and decorated, and before I knew it the summer was over and the kids went back to school. So this time I'm trying to focus on having a fun summer with them and just getting a little done every day. And we're getting there. Slowly.

We're so happy that the move went smoothly and that you are getting settled in. Also excited that you are closer to Utah again. Sure miss the fun times our families had together!
