Last Days of School

I got to chaperone an all-day third grade field trip to Green River and had a great time with Liam and his class. We went to the railroad station,

the Historical Museum,

and the county courthouse.

I love all things history and it was all very interesting, but somehow I just couldn't help but think that if we were in Washington, the field trip might have been to study tidepools or a whale watching trip. Yes, I'm a little homesick.

In other exciting news, Sam graduated from kindergarten!

If ever there was a blessing in Sam's life, it is this lady:
We could not have hand-picked a better teacher for Sam. He did not have an easy time adjusting to school and still has many social skills to work on, but Ms. Cowan was an absolute godsend to our family. She was patient and gave Sam what he needed: just love. (I'm getting all teary-eyed just writing this!) The other day we were talking about who the kids were going to marry, and Sam said he will definitely marry Ms. Cowan!

Grace and Liam competed in their very first swim meet and did a great job.
(Wish I had better pictures!)

Declan wrapped up his year of dance with a big recital. I am so glad we decided to do dance this year. With all the other kids in school all day, he needed something that was just his, and dance fit the bill perfectly. He had so much fun and is a natural-born performer. He will start preschool in the fall and is now old enough for swimming lessons and soccer, so we will not be dancing another year.

Unless he confesses his dreams about being on "Dancing With the Stars" or something.

He is awfully comfortable wearing spandex and leopard prints.

Here he is, front row, ready to take a bow at the grand finale.
I will try to post a video of his performance soon. It is too cute even for words.

Scenes From Soccer

Another soccer season has come and gone, and while I won't miss the constant running around to 8 practices and 4 games a week, I will miss watching my babies play ball.

Soccer just makes me happy.

Sam's Ice Cream Party

For Sam's friend birthday party, we had an ice cream sundae bar and a big obstacle course in the backyard. It was really easy and low-key and we all had a great time!
