Sam's 6th Birthday

We celebrated Sam's birthday at Sante Fe Restaurant this year for his beloved fajitas. He is having a friend party, too, but not until next week, so his actual birthday was family only. And it was fun.

At first he resisted...

...but finally gave in to the allure of the birthday sombrero.

Pouting because we made him give his sister and brothers a bite:

But not to worry - there was more sugar waiting at home, in the form of a Cold Stone ice cream cake.

It's good to be six.

Dunes and Petroglyphs

Contrary to popular belief, there are a few cool things to see near Rock Springs. And now that we've explored the ancient petroglyphs and the sand dunes, I think we've officially seen everything!

There was a huge herd of sheep in the valley below us that were getting rounded up by a sheepherder, and his dogs took a break from herding to come hang out with us.

Note to self: the sand dunes are completely awesome, but only come back if a wind-less day ever comes to Wyoming.
