Gourd Times

Some good ol' family night pumpkin carving.

Sam's preschool field trip to a pumpkin patch:
Sam and his best school friend Lucas, who we got to take in the van with us.  I so wish I'd have had a way to record the cute four-year-old boy conversations coming from that back seat.
And Declan, because he just loves having his picture taken.  (And wouldn't you if you were that really really ridiculously good-looking?!)
Riding in the tractor trailer at the farm.  Thank goodness for that gorgeous sunshine.

In typical Sam-fashion, he bypassed all the cute, normal-sized pumpkins in search for the biggest and best.
This was the monster pumpkin he picked.  I nearly threw my back out trying to lift it into the trailer.

Riding in the caboose.

Having a yummy fall snack - apple slices, apple cider, and popcorn balls.  This was the first time my kids ever had a popcorn ball - they didn't even know that it was a real thing and not just made up for a cute Primary song.

Today was Sam's costume parade and preschool program.  The kids all came marching into the room where the parents were waiting to see all their cute costumes.  Sam Cullen made the best entrance of all, flapping his cloak, baring his razor-sharp vampire teeth, and growling at the people he passed.

And the most exciting new development at the Ratchford house?

This guy:
Our new little 18-month-old foster baby, Evan.  He has been with another foster family, so we have been able to make it a slow transition for him.  He will spend some afternoons with us this week before moving in officially on Monday.  And let me tell you, we could not have custom-ordered a better fit for our family.  This kid is tough, funny, and about the cutest thing ever.   We are excited to get to know him better!

And then there were SIX little crazies to keep life exciting in the Ratchford home!

What fun fall festivities! Also how cute is Evan? Another boy to add to the Ratchfords- crazy! I really think you need some more girls around there. Evan is on our boy list for names- I think it's so cute. Why did he move foster homes? Do you think there may be a possibility to adopt?

There he is. I keep asking Dave if Garreth has said anything to him. He said he hasn't said a word. Men I tell yah. First of all how to you forget to ask your brother about a new addition to their family. Second of all how to you forget to tell you brother, oh by the way we are getting new foster kid. Honestly. He looks darling and what I good age to get. I am sure that Declan will love having some company while Sams at school.

You have an amazing family and Evan is a very lucky little boy to be a part of that. I love the name Evan, that's my youngest boy's name, and I think all little boys with that name are angels.

Erin,
what fun pictures...I was looking at the picture of Evan, and I swear he looks like a mix of Sam and Declan...fits right in, what a lucky little guy to spend time in your family.

I've been enjoying catching up on your blog. Your family is so cute and you look like you all have such a great time together. Love the pics with the pumpkins Ü Wish you guys lived closer, if you ever get tired of the rain, pop on down to AZ. (p.s. How great that Garreth got to go to Ireland.)
