Oregon, part two

The next stop along the coast was at the Sea Lion Caves, which was pretty awesome. They claim that it is the world's largest sea cave and there are hundreds of sea lions that live there.

We started off walking down a ramp to the outdoor lookout, and we looked down to see a bunch of them on the rocks below. It was fun to see them swimming around and jumping on and off the rocks.

Then we made our way down to the elevator, which took us 200 feet underground to the caves. The sea lions were protected from people by a chain link fence, but we could still see them very well. The caves were impressive, too. The kids absolutely loved this place.

A sea lion skeleton that was discovered when the cave was discovered in 1890. No one knows how old it is, they just put up a fence around it and left it where it was.

We were some of the last ones left in the cave at closing time, and I think the kids could have stayed even longer. It was a cool place!

We stopped for the night in Florence, but before checking into the hotel, we had to spend some time on the beach. It was VERY windy so once they got wet, the kids didn't last long in the cold. We really must take these guys to a warm beach someday. Man, do they love the ocean!
