A Break From the Moving Madness

This week has been crazy with trying to get everything boxed up and ready to move, so yesterday I decided it was time to get out of the chaos of our messy house and have some fun with the kids.  They've been such great helpers but we've all been a little stir crazy, especially since the weather here has been so nice and we've spent most of it indoors.

We started off with a picnic lunch at the park.

This is one way to avoid getting skinned knees.  (Another way would be to learn how to WALK already!)
Grace and Deeky.
After the little boys took naps we went down to the Fragrance Gardens and Tennant Lake to explore.  Here's the kids with the lavender patch.
This picture cracks me up.  Look at their faces and you know they're all thinking "Here goes Mom again with another picture."  Someday maybe they'll thank me for capturing so many pictures of their childhood...
Liam on top of the tower overlooking the gardens and Tennant Lake, which is not really a lake but more like wetlands.
Sam and the tower.
There is a boardwalk that takes you over the water and through essentially a swamp.  Very cool.  It felt like we were in Vietnam instead of Washington.  There is a lot of wildlife there (cranes, frogs, beavers, etc) but I'm pretty sure they all heard us coming a mile away and had plenty of time to hide.  We did see fish and dragonflies.
Back at the Fragrance Gardens having a snack under the honeysuckle.
Then it was on to Daddy's soccer game.  Notice Sam, the little yogi practicing "downward facing dog" in the background.
This was Garreth's first game playing on his intermural team and the coach picked out lovely pink team jerseys. (maybe to intimidate the other teams with their manliness?)  We were a little late and as we approached the field, I asked Liam if he could see Daddy.  He said yes and then quietly said, "And I'm not too sure about the pink jersey with the red shorts."  Great fashion advice from the kid in the orange tie dye shirt and red track pants!
Flying Sam
And an other one of Sam.  Don't those big brown eyes just make you melt?

Even though we've been moving things in the van over to the new house all week, tomorrow's the official "moving truck" day.  We'll be so glad to finally get settled.  Garreth and I have been taking turns every night going over to paint and we'll have the kids' rooms all done when we move in - hooray!

Can't wait to see the new house! We listed John and Penny Dalley's house and they told me they used to have a condo in Birch Bay! They love it up there. They also told me about his son and their foster to adopt kids. They adopted 3 spanish kids and just had them sealed. Great story.

I hope the move went well and you are getting settled in. What an exciting time for your family.
